Beyond Limitations Africa (BLA)

Beyond Limitations Africa (BLA) is a non profit organization that was incorporated in 2018 with the aim of addressing the various limitations that hinder women and girls from pursuing and achieving their dreams.

We nurture and promote creativity and innovation among women and youths by empowering them to harness their natural gifts, skills and talents in order to invent sources of livelihood for better and meaningful lives.

We are creating space and exposing women and youths to their rightful purpose and developing their inborn talents while bringing their potential and abilities to life. Our head offices are found in Nkoowe, Wakiso.

Why we exist?

According to a survey by Global Dreams Index, half of the world’s female population have given up on their dreams and are not happy with their current lives for reasons such as gender inequality, lack of support resources, and self confidence, among others. This is typically the situation among girls and women in Africa and Uganda in particular. Adolescent Girls and Young Women are therefore more vulnerable than boys and men and need to be deliberately targeted. Our interventions among AGYW have bred job creators and reduced unemployment. This approach can be replicated elsewhere.

Why Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW)?

According to ILO, majority of Africa’s working age population is unemployed with women cited as the worst victims. In Uganda, the National Planning Authority indicates that every year, a total of 700,000 youths enter the job market yet only 90,000 jobs are available, this means that 87% of job seekers are not able to access employment. In an effort to intervene in addressing this situation, BLA’s interventions specifically empowers Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) between the age of 15-35 yearsthrough talent development and business skills.
